Research and Development     Fuel Cell

The CUTE project (Clean Urban Transport for Europe) approved by the European Community at the end of November, anticipates the experimental use of 3 buses with hydrogen-powered fuel cells for 2 years in 10 European cities.

STCP, SA, in its untiring search for environmentally friendly fuels, could not fail to be part of this project, given that the only exhaust product resulting from the use of this fuel cell selected to be installed in the vehicles, is steam.

Before the vehicles enter into service in our network, a lot of work will have to be done.

The project does not just concern itself with the actual running of the vehicles, but it will also analyse all other areas necessary for the circulation of the vehicles, such as questions concerned with the production of hydrogen, its storing, filling stations, safety, standardising, training and dissemination of the results.

The selection of the cities that would have the project vehicles in operation was carefully analysed by the project sponsor, so as to permit the collection of the widest possible range of information about the fuel cell, taking into account many varied influences, climate, topography and traffic.
